Ortiz V. Mayweather- Cheapshot? I think not

Let me paint you a picture. a few weekends ago I was sitting in the stands of Anna Maria College in Paxton, Massachusetts watching a buddy of mine, Jamal Mitchell, play some college ball. Being a kicker he doesn't get to see much action, so by the time kickoff comes around, he's chomping at the bit to do something. Anyways, he kicks the ball down field, and the returner breaks free down the sideline. The returner gets to the sideline, hes running up the field, but before he can get into open field he is pushed out of bounds and tip toes up the field. This kid is running down the sideline out of bounds just trotting along, then WHAM! the poor returner is absolutely demolished by 210 pounds of action repressed kicker. Of course the refs went crazy throwing their yellow flags, but what no one realized is not only was the returner still  moving up field toward the end zone, but more importantly, the refs never blew the whistle. The point here is, the kid got hit because my buddy played to the whistle, like every athlete should. When you step foot on any field of battle, whether it be a boxing ring, ice rink or in this case grass field, you fight and battle until the play has concluded and this whistle is blown. you go on that field and you compete until you are instructed to stop. If you are lazy and laid back then you do not belong on the field.

Now let's get to the heart of the matter, the match last night between Ortiz and Mayweather. As you can see on the clip attached, Ortiz got knocked the hell out. Everyone wants to cry foul, say Mayweather is a cheap fighter, and doesn't deserve the win. That is all a load. This is boxing, when you go in the ring, you swing until told otherwise. The ref very clearly restarts the fight, and what does Ortiz do? He walks over to Mayweather, hands spread wide and tries to hug and kiss him and apologize. At this point one has to wonder if Ortiz is even remotely fit to fight as it is, maybe he took too many shots to the head thinking he can walk up to a man in the ring and give him a hug and a kiss. The action  was reinstated the gloves were touched, the action had restarted. Ortiz had broken the one rule of boxing, always keep your hands up. There is no question of who is at fault here. Ortiz was inexperienced and lost due to this. He deserved to be knocked out. If you want to fight with the big boys then you need to stand like the big boys. When the heat is on and the fight is in action, you never let up your competitive edge. The fight is on, you do not stop swinging until the bell rings and you are physically forced to retreat to your corner. Mayweather is undefeated for a reason. He knows how to box. Ortiz a little advice, keep your eyes on the prize and act a little more like an athlete and stop crying. Hes been interviewed and all he does is say that Mayweather didn't beat him, and hes right, he didn't beat you, he knocked your crybaby ass out. Take a back seat and let the real fighters fight, let the real athletes compete, if you want to complain about these things than you can go play soccer or croquet. Let me know when your ready to actually compete.

P.s. If you have trouble wrapping your mind around it, picture this knockout like the wrong ball play in football, where the QB walks the ball to the sideline saying wrong ball, and everyone acting like idiots allows this, and before you know it he's streaking down the sideline into the end zone. The point is, pay attention, there's a play going on and if you do not realize it, then you deserve to lose.

Reboot, Re-Tweak, Rerun, Reload, RETURN

I know this is about time 4 that I, The Fooch, have said to returned. This has happened again and again and I know must have frustrated many, many fans of The Fooch Report. I figured instead of just saying "hey guys I want to write again," I would ensure a true and lasting come back by revamping and rebooting the whole blog.

First off, yes I will be blogging. So yeah that is new I guess seeing as I haven't posted much since the site faded out.

Second, there is a revamping of the staff of The Fooch Report. We're adding a new flavor to The Report. We now have my man Holla writing as a featured blogger, (Russolini has slacked and faded out). Holla is a well known sports enthusiast and will hopefully bring more of the sport element into the blog. I'm expecting exciting sport game analysis, and analysis for fantasy sports, most notably Fantasy Football. He has a lot to say, and I do not expect him to be shy about it.

and

Lastly, I revamped the look of the site...so stop crying and enjoy.

So take this one to heart fans. We're back, and this one is for real. Now you have something to read in class again.
Take us home, show your folks, send us around to your friends.

P.S. There's a special thanks to those readers who approached me this summer and asked for a return. Kids i haven't talked to since Freshman year of high school came up to me and asked me where The Fooch Report went. Thank You, We're Back.

With Love,
      The Fooch
